01 Introduction
QURB ("we", "our", or "us") operates the QURB mobile application (the "App"), available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our App.
QURB is an innovative audio broadcasting application designed to work with the QURB hardware device. It allows tour guides, presenters, and broadcasters to stream audio directly to nearby listeners through the QURB device's Wi-Fi network — without requiring an internet connection.
By downloading and using the QURB App, you agree to the terms outlined in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
02 Information Collection
QURB is built with a privacy-first approach. The App is designed to function without collecting personal data from users.
- No personal data is collected. We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or any personally identifiable information through the App.
- No usage analytics are collected. The App does not track your behavior, usage patterns, or browsing activity.
- No location data is collected. The App does not access or store your geographical location.
- No account registration is required. You can use the App without creating an account or providing any personal information.
The QURB App operates entirely locally between your mobile device and the QURB hardware unit. No data is transmitted to external servers during normal operation.
03 Device Permissions
The QURB App may request the following device permissions to function properly:
- Wi-Fi Access: Required to connect to the QURB device's local Wi-Fi network for audio streaming. No internet data is transmitted.
- Microphone Access (Broadcaster only): Required for the broadcaster to capture and transmit live audio through the QURB device.
- Location Permission (Android): On Android devices, the operating system requires location permission to be granted in order to scan and connect to Wi-Fi networks. This is a system-level requirement imposed by Android (API level 23+) and is not optional for apps that need Wi-Fi connectivity. QURB does not access, track, store, or transmit your actual geographical location. This permission is used solely to enable the Wi-Fi scanning functionality required to discover and connect to the QURB device's local network.
- Network State: Used to detect and manage the connection between your device and the QURB hardware unit.
- Foreground Service: Allows the audio stream to continue when the app is in the background.
Important: The location permission requested by the App is a mandatory Android system requirement for Wi-Fi network scanning. QURB never collects, stores, or shares your location data. Your geographical position is never accessed or transmitted at any point.
These permissions are used solely for the App's core functionality. No data obtained through these permissions is stored, shared, or transmitted to third parties.
04 Data Sharing
We do not share any data with third parties. Since the QURB App does not collect personal information, there is no data to share, sell, trade, or rent to any external entities.
- No data is shared with advertising networks.
- No data is shared with analytics providers.
- No data is shared with business partners or affiliates.
- No data is sold to data brokers or other third parties.
05 Data Storage & Security
The QURB App stores minimal data locally on your device:
- App preferences: Basic settings such as language preference and connection history to QURB devices are stored locally on your phone.
- PIN codes: If the broadcaster sets a PIN-protected stream, the PIN is managed locally between the QURB device and the connected phones.
All communication between the App and the QURB device occurs over a local Wi-Fi network. Audio data is streamed in real-time and is not recorded or stored by the App unless explicitly initiated by the user.
We take reasonable measures to protect the integrity and security of any locally stored information. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.
06 Children's Privacy
The QURB App is rated for users aged 13 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age.
Since the App does not collect any personal data from any user, this applies equally to all age groups. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take immediate steps to address the situation.
07 Third-Party Services
The QURB App may be distributed through the following platforms, each with their own privacy policies:
- Google Play Store: Google Privacy Policy
- Apple App Store: Apple Privacy Policy
We encourage you to review the privacy policies of these platforms, as they may collect information independently when you download or update the App.
The QURB App itself does not integrate any third-party SDKs, analytics tools, or advertising frameworks that could collect user data.
08 Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. When we make changes:
- The "Effective Date" at the top of this page will be updated.
- Significant changes will be communicated through the App or our website.
- Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
We recommend reviewing this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your privacy.
